Halloween House Party

Halloween House Party was a game originally made by a team of 5 for the Spooktober 2020 Visual Novel Jam. It’s a sapphic comedy romance game set in a modern fantasy universe where you play Cordelia (name customizable) a collegiate witch trying to cram in at least one party before the graduating for good.

As the lead programmer I handled the point and click sections of the game, and bartending mechanics, user interface programming, as well as scripting for the game (particularly Danny’s route and the main story).

I also helped with visual effects, which included drawing and implementing several features including dynamically colored bubbles when mixing spirits and the little spooky bat icons for the itch.io users who comment on our page, as well as using code to animate and iterate on the designs of other artists on the team. I also donated some awful spooky drink puns to the game!

You can play the desktop version of Halloween House Party (Windows, Linux, Mac) or the mobile versions (Android) here.
The mobile version can also be found here, on the Play Store.

If you are stuck in the game and would like hints on how to get the romantic endings, a walkthrough is available here.

A small promotional animation I made to help decorate our itch.io page. Try commenting on the page if you’d like to see this bat badge on your profile pic!

I helped design, draw, and implement dynamic bubbles that changed to a unique color based on what ingredients you mixed into the cauldron.

I implemented a point and click exploration system to help Cordelia get around the party.

I helped out with scripting on all routes, but in particular I was responsible for the scripting an animation of Danny, the fiery jock love interest.
